Distribution of orchards area in Vojvodina [Serbia, Yugoslavia]

The paper analysis the distribution of communes in the Vojvodina Province, Serbia (Yugoslavia) according to the share of orchard area in total cultivable area. In 1996, prevailed communes which have had unfavourable share orchard area in total cultivable area. In 33 communes from their total number of 45 communes the share of orchard area was less than 1.0%. The following communes have had the lowest share of orchard area in total cultivable area: Srbobran (0.03%), Opovo (0.07%), Kovacica (0.11%) and Zabalj (0.12%). The following communes are characterized by high share of orchard area in total cultivable area: Sremski Karlovci (9.25%), Irig (7.18%), Beocin (6.65%), Subotica (4.38%) and Bela Crkva (4.23%).
