Micromorphological changes on the sheats of embryo eggs artificially infected with Aspegillus fumigatus

The authors have investigated the spectrum of micromorphological changes on the sheats of hen embryonal eggs infected by Aspergillus fumigatus in the amount of 1,949,500 spores per egg. After 21 day incubation period the egg sheats were isolated and fixed into Bouin, then put into paraffin after which procedure the histological cuts 6 micrometers thick were obtained. The cuts were coloured according to PAS and Grocoot method. In all cases the thickening of egg sheats with the elements of mould above it or fungi elements (hypha) penetrating into its interior layer and reaching into the embryo has been established microscopically. One of the very interesting findings were granuloid formations having polymorphic appearance, on the sheath or outside it. On the basis of microscope findings the authors have concluded that embryonic eggs infected through shell by Aspergillus fumigatus in the amount of 1,949,500 spores with a described micromorphological changes are not able to hatch live chicks.
