In this paper, the toxicity effects selenium (sodium selenite) in fattening chickens are described. The chickens were fed by 0, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 30 mgSe/kg diet in form Na2SO3 during six weeks. The results showed, that body weights of chickens were proportionally lower when the concentration of selenium in diet increased. Body weight did not differ in chickens fed the diet with 2 mgSe/kg or the basal diet. Mortality was higher as chickens were provided with the higher selenite containing diets. The concentration of selenium in a plasma was not increasing proportionally with a growth of concentration selenium in diet. At the beginning of experiment (11 day) the highest level of selenium concentration in plasma is achieved in all groups and this level was maintained until the end of fattening.
