Importance of lady bug (Coccinellidae) in the biological pest control

Besides numerous literature sources, this review paper includes also the results of investigations of the lady bug fauna in Serbia (Yugoslavia) conducted by the authors of the paper. The following lady bug species have been found on sunflowers in the Vojvodina Province, Serbia (Yugoslavia): Propylea 14-punctata (30.9%), Adonia veriegata (25.3%), Coccinella septempunctata (15.7%), Semiadalia undecimnotata (14.7%), Scymus rubromacalutus (8.0%), Hippodamia 13-punctata (3.0%), Coccinella 14-pustulata (1.5%), Adalia bipunctata (0.8%) and Calvia 14-guttata (0.1%). The following members of the lady bug fauna have been found on sugar beet in the Vojvodina Province, Serbia (Yugoslavia): Propylea 14-punctata (44%), Coccinella septempunctata (32%), Hippodamia tredecimpunctata (14%) and Adonia variegata (10%). The dynamics of these species is presented in table.
