Dust separation in high dust cover conditions for agriculture and construction machinery is most frequently performed in two stages. The first stage is a rough separator usually made as an inertial-centrifugal multicyclone pre-cleaner. Classic realizations of multicyclone air pre-cleaner achieve their maximal efficiency only for nominal operation regimes. For small air flow through these pre-cleaners, their efficiency decreases, which has an effect on maintenance cost increase and decrease of engine operation life. Combination of constant depression ejectors and electronic regulation of the number of active cyclones at intelligent air pre-cleaner achieve the maintenance of maximal separation efficiency in whole operation field of the engine. The paper presents the results of mathematical modelling, original design solutions and electronic control over the number of active cyclones.
