Biomass as fuel for a gas producer-engine system
1998
Viglasky, J. (Technical University in Zvolen, Zvolen (The Slovak Republic))
In view of future importance of biomass as fuel, the physical properties as well as chemical characteristics and thermal behaviour of various biomass are studied and compared with wood which was used to feed power gasifiers during World War 2nd. Fixed bed down-draught power gasifiers were mostly used and they still have specific requirements on fuels. The ability to specify gasifier fuel parameters is very important, and they are discussed in this contribution. The contribution presents the quality limits that fuels must have to be successfully gasified in a fixed bed down-draught power gasifier.
