Studies on the possibility of growing Amaranthus cruentus, Amaranthus caudatus, Amaranthus moleros on various soil types began in tree years. The experiments were conducted in the vinicity of Novi Sad (Serbia, Yugoslavia) on tree types of soil: 1) alluvial chernozem (light types); 2) gley chernozem (with an impervious layer); 3) black meadow soil (heavy type). Study has shown that Amaranthus cruentus grow the best with highest plant and leaf mass. All tree Amaranthus species grow the best on alluvial chernozem and the worst on black meadow soil.
