Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss-Walbaum) groups were fed different feed. Control group was fed standard pelleted feed mixes. Fish from the first experimental group received mixed feed composed of fish meal, soybean pellets, sardine and fish oil. Fish from the second experimental group were fed exclusively sardine, while the third group received combined rations, consisting of pelleted feed and sardine. Throughout the entire experimental period mortality and the health status of fish were observed. At the end of the study, examination of physico-chemical parameters, e.g. chemical composition and acceptability of meat quality was performed. Different feeding systems did not significantly affect the chemical composition, except the lipid content, which was considerably higher in fish fed exclusively sardine or combined rations composed of sardine and pellets with the ratio 1:3. Furthermore, meat with best organoleptic properties originated from the group fed combined rations.
