Taking into consideration the importance of fish in both natural and anthropogenic hydroecosystems, the diversity of ichthyofauna keeps fishery being economically important. Bearing in mind the sustainable use and development of water resources, particularly from commercial and sport fishing viewpoint, thorought evaluation of both water quality and capacity of particular hydroecosystems by integral and complex monitoring becomes high priority. Apart from hydrological, physical, hydrochemical and hydrobiological surveillance, special attention must be paid to analysis of indigenous fish population structure and composition, possibilities for enlargement of fish population, the impact of introduced fish species on total ichthyofauna, the protection and production of biota that serves as fish food, fish parasites control and extinction, protection of spawning spots, evacuation of fish and fingerling from the flood zones, pollution prevention and control within fishable waters, slowing down the eutrophication process, commercial and sport fishing enchancement. Financial effects and profit of surface waters could be increased by modernization of commercial fishing within important natural resources, rational use of fish population, protection of endangered species and rigid and consistent application of legislation.
