Within the parasitological examinations of the fishes from the Macedonian part of the Lake Ohrid were comprised 168 specimens of barbel (Barbus meridionalis petenyi Heckel, 1847) of which 62 specimens (36.90%) were infected. In our case study was evident the presence of 12 parasite species: Ichthyophthyrius multifilis, Phyllodistomum sp., Ligula intestinalis (plerocercoid), Cystidicoloides tenuissima, Raphidascaris acus, Contracaecum microcephalum (larva), Paracanthocephalus tenuirostris, Metechinorhynchus truttae, Metechinorhynchus salmonis, Acanthocephalus anguillae, Pomphorhynchus laevis and Pomphorhynchus bosniacus. Separately, by parasite species, the highest prevalence is with Pomphorhynchus laevis (20.24%), and the lowest prevalence is with Ichthyophthirius multifilis, Ligula intestinalis (plerocercoid), Contracaecum microcephalum (larva) and Paracanthocephalus tenuirostris (0.60%). The greatest number of parasite specimens were found in the cases of infection with Phyllodistomum sp. (200). With exception of Contracaecum microcephalum (larvae), Metechinorhynchus truttae and Pomphorhynchus bosniacus, the others 9 parasite species are mentioned in our study occur for the first time in the parasitofauna of barbel from Lake Ohrid. Phyllodistomum sp. is a new species for parasitofauna of the fishes from Lake Ohrid, and Ichthyophthirius multifilis and Paracanthocephalus tenuirostris are new species for Macedonian ichthyoparasitofauna.
