Using of heterosis in purpose of improvement of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) production

On the basis of diallel crossings of five divergent eggplant genotypes, it was estimated heterosis effects for following characters: earliness, fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, fruit number per plant and yield. As combinations of crossings with the highest value of heterosis, it was selected two hybrids: K35xK36/1 and K35xK11. For both hybrids it was estimated significant heterosis for two the most important features of eggplant: earliness and yield. Also, these hybrids had vigorous plants during vegetation that could be indicator potential resistance on diseases. Introduction of F1 hybrids in growing of eggplant it could be developed more effective and healthy safe production of eggplant.
