This paper deals with flora of four meadow phytocoenoses, widespread on calcareous massif Stol in the eastern Serbia (Yugoslavia): ass. Danthonietum calycinae, Agrostietum vulgaris, Arrhenatheretum elatioris and ass. Agropyretum intermediae. These grassland communities develop at 800-1000 m altitude in various water regime habitat conditions. Flora of investigated communities has been analyzed from different aspects, such as: taxonomic range, life forms, floral elements and quality evaluation. The spcies belonging to the grass family, like Arrhenatherum elatius, Festuca pratensis, Agropyrum intermedium, Poa pratensis, Alopecurus pratensis and Dactylis glomerata, could be characterized as of good quality, while among the moderately favourable species have dominated Agrostis vulgaris and Cynosurus cristatus. The important role in floristic composition have had the species classified into the family Asteraceae and Lamiaceae, mostly expressing the poor quality. Flora of investigated communities (with the total of 81 species, grouped into the 67 genera and 23 families) appeared prodominantly hemicryptophytic character (74.68%), yet low general participation of therophytes (5.06%) points out both the stability of such meadow phytocoenoses and slight human influence. Relating to the contribution of certain areal types, the most abundant were widespread ones, such as Eurasian and Middle-European species.
