The electromagnetic method DPASV has been used to analyze the presence of the following trace elements in the foliage: Pb, Zn, Cu and Cd. These pollutants of anthropogenic origin are frequent in polluted urban environments. The method is sufficiently discrete to allow trace elements detection on individual leaves. Two ligneous plant species, wild chestnut and hazelnut, were analyzed for the accumulation of heavy metals on the foliage in the course of a vegetation season. Pb content exceeded the threshold of toxic concentration at the end of the season in both plant species; the other elements were within the scope of normal values. The obtained results were compared against a "referent plant", which is suitable for evaluation and comparison with other authors' results.
