Cereal grains are excellent sources of dietary fibers. Wheat grain is abundant in insoluble fibers while oat and barley are good sources for both insoluble and soluble fibers. Most of the insoluble fibers are located in grain capsule. Endosperm with germ has little fibers mostly soluble. Regarding the physiological effects and health benefits of dietary fibers, nutrition rich in oat and barley products is important in prevention diabetes and reducing cholesterol while nutrition rich in wheat products has importance in prevention and treatment of constipation.
