Mathematical modeling and optimization of design parameters and operational regimes for grain dryers

Possibility in modeling the convective drying process of grained materials, inside gravitational grain dryers, are shown in this paper. Mathematical model is developed in order to enable easier analysis of relevant parameters necessary for design of mentioned dryers, and to enable also the optimization of operational regimes of the dryers for the case of different grained materials drying (wheat, corn, sunflower seed, etc.). On the basis of developed model the few of different operational regimes were analysed for the case of one dryer type (with twelve segments in drying zone and four in cooling zone). The cases of double passing of drying agent, with and without additional heating, were discussed.
