Forest ecosystems, as a natural background, dominate in our monasteries - monuments of exceptional cultural-historical significance. The majority of Fruska Gora Monasteries, Serbia (Yugoslavia) are situated in such a natural surrounding. The condition of forest ecosystems in the background of the Fruska Gora Monasteries is characterized by a complete or partial modification, compared to natural potential. Simultaneously, natural potential, characterized by the basic ecological characteristics of site and stands, as well as the actual forest condition, is determined by: ecological and aesthetic value of forest ecosystems, potential utilization in the scope of the defined land use, measures and works required in the aim of converting the existing state to the optimum state of forests.
