Carabid beetle communities were studied in three types of agrocoenoses from near Sofia (Bulgaria): winter wheat, alfalfa and oak-pea intercrop comparable in sizes. 4.779 individuals of 64 carabid species were collected by pitfall traps for one vegetative season. Spacial distribution of carabid beetles was estimated by ordination and classification of assemblages. Diversity indexes showed highest values at winter wheat crop. Regularity of carabid diversity decreasing from periphery to the middle of fields was observed only at the alfalfa crop. Dendrograms of faunistical similarity by quality and quantity were made.
