In order to extend an alfalfa genetic collection as well as possibility of selection and creation of new cultivars with higher yields and productive and morphology traits, four Iranian and eight Serbian cultivars were analyzed in 1999-2001. Traits which were analyzed are: yield (t/ha) and dry matter content (%), regeneration rate (cm), plant height in stage of cutting (cm) and internode number and length. Serbian cultivars: NS Banat ZMS II, NS Mediana ZMS V, Novosadjanka H-11, NS Vrsac ZMS IV and Ns Panonka gave significantly higher yield of dry matter. Iranian alfalfa cultivars: Ghareh Yon Geh, Nikshahry and Hamadany were characterised with higher regeneration rate.
