Intercropping two or more crops under similar microenvironmental conditions can increase the agricultural productivity. A field study was conducted in two-year period 1998-1999 at experimental field Radmilovac of the Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade (Yugoslavia) on chernozem luvic soil type. Maize and soybean was grown in pure stands and three combinations of intercrops (alternate-row and in rows mixtures). Additive design was used for creating of intercrop variants. Intercropping system has positive influence on aboveground biomass yield in technological maturity, especially on in-row variants because of lower interspecific competition between component crops.
