The characteristics of mixed fruiting wood in some peach cultivars

Properties of mixed twiggs of 42 fruiting peach varieties were studied during 2 years. The following was found: The average length of the twiggs of all investigated varieties was 53.2 cm, part of a branch without the flower buds was the longest in the New Jersey variety, 42,9. The number of flower buds varied and was mainly conditioned by the varietal properties; the number of wood buds varied among the investigated varieties and it was 17.6 on the average, depending on the biological variety properties. The number of nodes with several flower buds per node was also variable and was in a positive correlation with the total number of flower buds and the average number for all investigated varieties was 4.1.
