[The compression of soil brought about by wheel passing]

The performed experimental work showed that soil is extremely sensitive to compression brought about by wheel passing. Excess compression is impossible to prevent because machine equipment must pass over undisturbed soil, according to the existing technology. Study of the resistance to conus penetration, as a compression degree measure, proved to be comparatively less reliable, but still possible. It is necessary to determine the analysis or foreseeing of the compression effects as a consequence of agricultural machinery operation. The analysis of the functional dependence of sliding and penetration depth of the wheel into the soil is completely possible and can be used for foreseeing the potential draft. Sufficient consolidation of the soil structure can be achieved already after a single passage of the machine. Energy losses for the tyre deformation when moving on soil are in principle smaller when moving on hard ground in equal conditions of moving.
