The effect of cultural system and orchard soil management an the initial bearing and growth of some apple cultivars

The paper presents results of the investigation into the fruitfulness and growth with apples on the M9 bed in the 3rd, 4th and 5th year after their planting in dependence on the system of growing and ways of soil cultivation. After dense planting (3.5mx1.5m) the thinned spindle-shaped shrub had greater fruitfulness per unit of surface than palmette with slanting branches (3.5mx2.0m). Cultivation of the inter-row space also had better effects on apple fruitfulness and growth than in the case of soil cultivation in the form of sod-mulch.
