Spanish; Castilian. El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar las emisiones de gases de dióxido de azufre en la central termoeléctrica “10 de octubre”, de Nuevitas, Camagüey, Cuba al medio ambiente. Para ello, se aplica una metodología para la determinación de los volúmenes de gases a partir de la composición elemental del combustible. Se demuestra la relación que existe entre la potencia de generación de la unidad con el flujo de combustible. Con esta relación y con una serie de datos históricos, se precisa la estadística descriptiva de las diferentes variables que influyen en las emisiones, así como los niveles de emisiones para diferentes valores y potencia. Se comparan los valores de emisiones de dióxido de azufre con normas internacionales ello muestra niveles superiores al rango permisible, lo cual deteriora la calidad ambiental del aire.This work is made out with the objective of determining the emissions of gases of the combustion to the environment in the "10 de Octubre" thermoelectric power station, of Nuevitas, Cuba. For this, the methodology for the determination of the volumes of gases from the elemental composition of the fuel is applied. The relationship between the generating power of the unit and the fuel flow is determined. With this relation and with a series of historical data, the descriptive statistics of the different variables influencing the emissions are determined, as well as the emission levels for different power values. The values of emissions of sulfur dioxide are compared with international standards showing that it is well above the norm, which brings with it serious environmental problems.
