Conversión de derivados de biomasa mediante sistemas catalíticos bifuncionales para la producción de biocombustibles | Conversion of biomass derivatives through bifunctional catalytic systems for the production of biofuels

En este trabajo de Tesis se estudió el desempeño de la conversión de la gamma-valerolactona (GVL) en fase líquida en presencia de pentanol (PeOH) para obtener el intermediario 2-penteneoto de pentilo (PP) sobre diferentes sólidos ácidos. Posteriormente, se enfocó el estudio en la obtención de valerato de pentilo (VP) empleando catalizadores bifuncionales de metales no-nobles (Ni, Co y Cu) y nobles (Ir, Pd, Pt, Rh y Ru). El estudio de los diferentes catalizadores ácidos permitió seleccionar a la SiO2-Al2O3 (SA) como soporte para la preparación por el método de impregnación a humedad incipiente (I) de los diferentes catalizadores bifuncionales. Particularmente, sobre el catalizador de Ni/SA se realizó un estudio exhaustivo de la influencia del método de preparación. Por otra parte, el catalizador de Pd/SA fue el que presentó el mejor desempeño catalítico con una conversión de GVL del 81,1% y una selectividad a VP de 86,4% al cabo de 8 h de reacción. Finalmente, con el catalizador de Pd/SA al igual que con Ni/SA-I se realizaron experiencias adicionales para evaluar los efectos de diversos parámetros operativos mediante la variación de la temperatura (230-270 ⁰C), la presión de H2 (5-15 bar), la concentración inicial de GVL (0,25-0,72 M) y la masa de catalizador (0,15-0,5 g), logrando valores de productividad de VP por gramo de metal entre 7 y 27 veces mayores a los valores informados en la literatura.

In this thesis work studied the performance of the conversion of gamma-valerolactone (GVL) in liquid phase in the presence of pentanol (PeOH) to obtain the pentyl 2-pentenoate (PP) intermediate over different solid acids. Subsequently, the study was focused on obtaining pentyl valerate (PV) using bifunctional catalysts of non-noble metals (Ni, Co and Cu) and noble metals (Ir, Pd, Pt, Rh and Ru). The study of the different acid catalysts allowed selecting SiO2-Al2O3 (SA) as a support for the preparation by the incipient wetness impregnation method (I) of the different bifunctional catalysts. Particularly, on the Ni/SA catalyst, an exhaustive study of the influence of the preparation method was carried out. On the other hand, the Pd/SA catalyst was the one that presented the best catalytic performance with a GVL conversion of 81.1% and a PV selectivity of 86.4% after 8 h of reaction. Finally, with the Pd/SA catalyst, as with Ni/SA-I, additional experiments were carried out to evaluate the effects of various operating parameters by means of varying the temperature (230-270 ⁰C), the H2 pressure (5- 15 bar), the initial concentration of GVL (0.25-0.72 M) and the catalyst mass (0.15-0.5 g), achieving PV productivity values per gram of metal between 7 and 27 times higher than the values reported in the literature.
