Their goal is produce at lowest cost so as to maintain profitability of forestry. They are based on the successive phases which relatively even-aged stands go through and are guided by considerations relating t the growth habit of trees. The two authors —French and German — describe the principles and methods implemented, while highlighting, where applicable, the differences in their respective outlooks.

Elle vise à produire mieux au moindre coût et à maintenir ainsi une certaine rentabilité à la gestion forestière. Elle s'appuie sur les phases successives par lesquelles passe un peuplement relativement équienne et est guidée par des considérations sur l'architecture des arbres. Les deux auteurs français et allemand en développent les principes et les modalités en faisant ressortir, le cas échéant, les différences de point de vue qui les distinguent l'un de l'autre.
