El presente proyecto de grado tuvo como objetivo principal el desarrollo de una prótesis para un canino adulto de raza criolla tamaño mediano con amputación a nivel de la articulación húmero-radial-cubital en el miembro anterior derecho. La ejecución del trabajo constó de las siguientes fases: búsqueda de información en la literatura, zoometría, acondicionamiento físico y muscular, estudio biomecánico, diseño conceptual, diseño preliminar, diseño detallado, estudio de marcha con y sin prótesis, análisis de variables biomecánicas, implementación de la prótesis, y finalmente análisis de resultados. De lo anteriormente mencionado se obtuvo que el canino de estudio "Lucas” logró adaptar su marcha cuadrupedal a solo un tipo de marcha denominado Paso, ya que el tiempo de adaptación para poder ejecutar el trote y galope, requieren de un proceso más lento y extenso. Por consiguiente se recomendó seguir implementando el protocolo de adaptación, acompañado de terapias, e incentivos para el canino. Por otra parte, la implementación de la prótesis en el canino brindó estabilidad, equilibrio y apoyo en la locomoción del mismo, aportó bienestar y mejoró notablemente el estado anímico de Lucas. Por último, las variables biomecánicas se cambiaron de la siguiente manera: el centro de masa se desplazó 0.06 m en el eje X, el centro de presiones se traslado hacia el centro de gravedad, y el área de sustentación aumentó un 51 %.

The main objective of this degree project was the development of a prosthesis for an adult canine of medium-sized creole breed with amputation at the level of the humerus-radial-ulnar joint in the right forelimb. The execution of the work consisted of the following phases: literature information search, zoometry, physical and muscular conditionin and biomechani-cal study for the first phase. The conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, including the construction of the pieces were part of the second and third phase. To carry out the fourth phase, the gait study with the prosthesis and the analysis of biomechanical variables were studied and analyzed. As a result we obtained that Lucas adapt his quadrupedal gait to only a type of march called step. To exectue the trot and gallop, it must be necessary to continue the rutine exercises and the therapies, taking into account that it requires more time and patience. Therefore, it was recommended to continue implementing the adaptation protocol and incentives for the canine. On the other hand, the implementation of the prosthesis in the canine provided stability, balance and support in the locomotion, these provided a better condition to Lucas. Finally, the biomechanical variables were changed as follows: the center of mass shifted 0.06 m on the X-axis, the center of pressure shifted toward the center of gravity, and the lift area increased by 51 %.
