Eficacia del Nefopam en tratamiento del dolor agudo postoperatorio y su relación con la disminución del consumo de opioides | Efficacy of Nefopam in the treatment of acute postoperative pain and its relationship with the reduction of opioid consumption

El dolor agudo postoperatorio (DAP) afecta a cerca de 9 de cada 10 pacientes en las primeras 24 horas posteriores a un procedimiento quirúrgico. Actualmente, millones de personas consumen opioides sin prescripción médica, lo cual ha incrementado las muertes por sobredosis a nivel mundial. Este artículo investiga la eficacia del nefopam en el tratamiento del DAP y su potencial para reducir el consumo de opioides. Se realizó una revisión sistemática rápida de 19 artículos, incluyendo estudios analíticos observacionales, estudios analíticos experimentales y una revisión sistemática. Los resultados muestran que la evidencia sobre el uso del nefopam sin coadyuvantes en el manejo del DAP es insuficiente. Se sugiere que, en combinación con otros analgésicos, el nefopam puede disminuir el consumo de opioides en ciertos casos; sin embargo, no se puede afirmar que sea efectivo por sí solo o en todos los tipos de cirugía y poblaciones.

Acute postoperative pain (APP) affects approximately 9 out of 10 patients within the first 24 hours after a surgical procedure. Currently, millions of people use opioids without a prescription, which has increased overdose deaths worldwide. This article investigates the efficacy of nefopam in the treatment of APP and its potential to reduce opioid consumption. A rapid systematic review of 19 articles was conducted, including observational analytical studies, experimental analytical studies, and one systematic review. The results show that the evidence for the use of nefopam alone in the management of APP is insufficient. It is suggested that, in combination with other analgesics, nefopam may decrease opioid consumption in certain cases; however, it cannot be stated that it is effective on its own or in all types of surgery and patient populations.
