Rendimiento de dos especies de amaranto (Amaranthus spp.) en asociación con fréjol (Phaseolus sp.) bajo distinto arreglo espacial en el sector La Argelia, de la ciudad de Loja

Amaranth (Amaranthus spp) is known for its high nutritional value and is currently considered one of the most highly valued foods in the world. In Ecuador, 50 ha are cultivated, with an average yield of 1 to 3 t ha-1. However, in the province of Loja there is no record of its production. Within cultural management, crop association and spatial arrangement are factors that, when used properly, can enhance crop yields. With this background, the objective of this research was to determine the yield of Amaranthus spp. in association with Phaseolus sp. under different spatial arrangement. The trial was conducted under a completely randomized block design (DBCA), in a bifactorial arrangement, with nine treatments and three replications. The species studied were Amaranthus caudatus var. Alegría and Amaranthus quitensis var. Rubí, associated with bean (INIAP 422 Blanco Belén). During the crop cycle, the following variables were recorded: phenology, plant height, stem diameter, stem elongation rate, growth dynamics and leaf area; the variables biomass, number of grains, thousand grains weight, yield and harvest index were recorded when the crops reached physiological maturity. The results obtained showed that amaranth yields exceeded the national average with productions of 7.90 t ha-1 in Alegría and 4.76 t ha-1 in Rubi; bean yields ranged from 0.44 to 1.7 t ha-1, which are within the national production parameters. El amaranto (Amaranthus spp), destaca por su alto valor nutricional, actualmente es considerado como uno de los alimentos más apreciados a nivel mundial. En Ecuador se cultivan 50 ha, con un rendimiento promedio de 1 a 3 t ha–1. Sin embargo, en la provincia de Loja no existe registro que indique su producción. Dentro de los manejos culturales, la asociación de cultivos y el arreglo espacial son factores que, al utilizarlos adecuadamente, pueden potenciar el rendimiento de los cultivos. Con estos antecedentes, la presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar el rendimiento de Amaranthus spp. en asociación con Phaseolus sp. bajo distinto arreglo espacial. El ensayo se realizó bajo un Diseño de Bloques Completamente al Azar (DBCA) en arreglo bifactorial, con nueve tratamientos y tres repeticiones. Las especies estudiadas fueron Amaranthus caudatus var. Alegría y Amaranthus quitensis var. Rubí, asociadas con fréjol (INIAP 422 Blanco Belén). Durante el ciclo de los cultivos se registraron las variables: fenología, altura de la planta, diámetro del tallo, tasa de elongación del tallo, dinámica de crecimiento y área foliar; las variables biomasa, número de granos, peso de mil granos, rendimiento e índice de cosecha, fueron registradas cuando los cultivos llegaron a madurez fisiológica. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que el rendimiento de amaranto superó a la media nacional con producciones de 7.90 t ha-1 en Alegría y 4.76 t ha-1 en Rubí; en fréjol el rendimiento presentó rangos desde 0.44 hasta 1.7 t ha-1, los cuales se encuentran dentro de los parámetros de producción nacional.
