Show more [+] Less [-]Mg-Transition metals(TM)-Y/Rare-earth(RE) alloys containing Long-Period Stacking Ordered structures(LPSO) are very attractive for structural applications due to the combination of low density with high mechanical strength up to 200 ºC and good creep resistance [1-8]. LPSO-phases are periodical arrangement of yttrium or RE elements and TM in the magnesium lattice, forming ordered structures [9,10]. The LPSO phase can be considered as the reinforcing phase in a metal matrix composite since the Young´s modulus of the LPSO phase is higher than that of the magnesium matrix [11,12].
