[EN] In the present paper an architeuthis sp. female of 195 ML and 200 kg weight caught by a trawler in south African waters (27º 42' S - 14º 13' E) is described, specially the beak, radula and suckers. The stomach content of this specimen was examined and beaks of Histioteuthis sp. and Ommastrephes caroli (Furtado, 1887) and other remains were found. This is the first time such and study for the Architeuthidae family has been undertaken. The level of organoclorine residues in the liver was examined, and the concentration found was low. [ES] En septiembre de 1976 flue capturado por el Yeyo, buque congelador. de arrastre por popa de la compañía FRIGALSA, en aguas de Sudáfrica {27º 4y S - 14º 13' E), a una profundidad de 375 metros y con un arte semipelágico de cuatro caras, un calamar de grandes dimensiones que, al parecer, venía vivo. Este ejemplar fue pesado y medido a bordo, dando en la báscula 200 kg y midiendo 4, 5 metros desde el extremo del cuerpo hasta el final de los brazos; la longitud de los tentáculos fue de 6 metros y 75 cm la anchura máxima del cuerpo.
