Árboles nativos del Chaco Húmedo: conociendo nuestro patrimonio natural

Since 1967, studies on the Chaco Forest have allowed us to  know the pioneer plant communities and their spatial  distribution in the territory of the Chaco Oriental Park, an  ecosystem made up of diverse environments and strata,  especially demarcated in the gallery forest. Currently, this  ecosystem is fragmented, forming patches of vegetation  with less diversity due to anthropogenic action. Faced with  these facts, we proposed to update the knowledge of the  native tree species of greatest importance for conservation  through field surveys, adapting the method  of Cottam and Curtis (1956) to the study of homogeneous  landscape plots. 14 plots were surveyed, recording 27 tree  and shrub species which were characterized according to  their biology, distribution and main conservation values.  Photographic records were made of each specimen and an  educational brochure was prepared on the most  significant species, which was presented at an educational  forum in the town. This work is a contribution of students,  teachers and NGOs to the knowledge and dissemination of  native species of a threatened and fragile ecosystem.

A partir de 1967, los estudios sobre el bosque chaqueño han permitido conocer las comunidades vegetales  pioneras y su distribución espacial en el territorio del  Parque Chaqueño Oriental, ecosistema conformado por  diversos ambientes y estratos, especialmente demarcados  en el bosque en galería. Actualmente, este ecosistema está  fragmentado formando parches de vegetación con  menor diversidad por acción antrópica. Frente a estos  hechos, nos propusimos actualizar el conocimiento de las especies arbóreas autóctonas de mayor importancia para  la conservación mediante relevamientos a campo  adaptando el método de Cottam y Curtis (1956) al estudio  de parcelas homogéneas de paisaje. Se relevaron 14  parcelas, registrando 27 especies arbóreas y arbustivas las  cuales fueron caracterizadas según su biología, distribución y principales valores de conservación. Se  realizaron registros fotográficos de cada ejemplar y se  elaboró un folleto de divulgación sobre las especies más  significativas, el que fue presentado en un foro educativo  en la localidad. Este trabajo es un aporte de estudiantes,  docentes y ONG al conocimiento y difusión de especies  autóctonas de un ecosistema amenazado y frágil.
