Análisis de vulnerabilidad estructural y social en dos edificaciones en el campus de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional por medio de la metodología Hazus y la metodología Capra, respectivamente.

El presente trabajo, se refiere al análisis de vulnerabilidad estructural y social de dos edificaciones de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional, como son el edificio de Bienestar Estudiantil y la Facultad de Ciencias; por medio de este análisis se pretende dar a conocer el estado de dichas edificaciones, además, de un estimado de número de víctimas mortales, si ocurriera una pérdida total de las estructuras frente a un evento sísmico. Este estudio fue realizado utilizando dos metodologías: la metodología Hazus, basada en análisis no lineales (pushover), que por medio de curvas de fragilidad permite obtener el estado de la edificación y su probabilidad de colapso; y la metodología CAPRA, que fue usada para encontrar un estimado de víctimas, heridos, afectados, etc., por medio de ábacos estandarizados según el método. Los resultados de este análisis podrán ser usados para la realización de un plan de contingencia o a su vez para buscar una propuesta de reforzamiento de estructuras, con la finalidad de salvaguardar las vidas de los estudiantes y las personas que laboran dentro del edificio de Bienestar Estudiantil y de la Facultad de Ciencias, y evitar pérdidas tanto humanas y económicas considerables para la Institución.

The present work refers to the analysis of structural and social vulnerability of two buildings of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional, which are the Student welfare building and the Faculty of Sciences; by means of this analysis it is intended to make known the state of said buildings, in addition, of an estimated number of fatalities, if a total loss of the structures occurs in front of a seismic event. This study was carried out through the Hazus methodology, based on non-linear analyzes (pushover), that through fragility curves we obtain the state of the building and its probability of collapse; and the CAPRA methodology, which was used to find an estimate of victims, injured, affected, etc., through standardized abacuses according to the method. The results of this analysis may be used for making a contingency plan or in turn to seek a proposal for reinforcement of structures, in order to safeguard the lives of students and people who work within the Student Welfare building and the Faculty of Sciences and avoid considerable human and economic losses for the institution.
