Utilización de subproductos de vacunos y aves para combatir la anemia en la región Loreto

La anemia en nuestro país viene aumentando gradualmente, en la mayoría por ingesta insuficiente de hierro. Afecta a millones de personas en especial a los lactantes, niños y gestantes. Los alimentos de origen animal como vacunos y aves son fuente de hierro alimentario y de mayor biodisponibilidad. La OMS define la anemia como el descenso del nivel de hemoglobina dos desviaciones estándar por debajo de lo normal. En términos prácticos podemos definir los valores de 13 gr/dl en el hombre, 12 gr/dl en las mujeres y 11 en la embarazada. En los niños de 6 meses a 6 años 11/gr/dl y de 6 años a 14 años, 12 gr/dl. En la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar ENDES, Loreto ocupa el segundo lugar a nivel nacional en Anemia, done seis de cada diez niños menores de tres años tienen anemia. Entre los niños menores de cinco años, más de 62 mil sufren de anemia y más de 28 mil tienen desnutrición crónica. A nivel nacional hay más de un millón de niños menores de cinco años con anemia y, a pesar de los avances logrados, más de 420 mil con desnutrición crónica. Para el año 2017, el 60 % de los niños entre 6 y 12 meses de edad tenían anemia. Finalmente, la multicausalidad de la Anemia como el acceso de la población a alimentos ricos en hierro genera impacto en la población infantil.
