Heat waves and urban heat island (UHI) are the adverse effects on pedestrians. For this reason, large city administrations are developing climate shelters to reduce these thermal conditions. This study aims to design a self-sufficient bus stop that provides thermal comfort to inhabitants in hot and dry climates. Self-sufficiency will be achieved through the integration of Falling-Film radiant technology and radiant surface cooling systems. Thanks to this idea, the study is conducted by a prototype bus stop evaluated in a fully sensorised climatic chamber. Experiments are designed to analyze the efficiency of surface cooling radiant modules. On the one hand, some results are conducted to obtain the convective and radiant heat flux under different operating conditions. The characterization indicates that 60% of the total heat flux is due to the radiation emitted by the installed modules. Meanwhile, thermograph images make it possible to check the correct performance of the prototype. Besides, it is stated that the cooling of the short-term stay is achieved in only 20 min.
