Characterization of decomissioned PV modules coming from Spanish PV plants

The massive growth of photovoltaic (PV) plants and the ageing of the existing ones is creating a mass of PV modules removed from their operation in the facilities. These modules, usually considered as waste, will go to the recycling channels. Sometimes, the working time of these modules is lower than their theoretical lifetime. In this context, we aim to characterize decommissioned PV modules from Spanish PV plants to analyze which are the common failures modes, and to deepen in the type of damages that could be corrected to enlarge module lifetime.
