Bamboo as carbon-sink - fact or fiction?
2010
Liese, Walter
Global warming, its causes and possible counter-measures are a major global concern und numerous international conferences und initiatives, both in research and politics, strive to identify viable approaches to mitigation and adaptation. Among these approaches the "carbon, capture, storage (ccs)" idea is considered, where plant communities sequester carbon dioxide by their assimilation and transform the gas into their biomass for longer storage. Bamboo is certainly among the plants that are to be considered in that context, and this is also indicated by the title of our Conference "Bamboo, the Environment and Climate Change".
