German. Der Gesetzgeber hat in den Kälber- und Schweinehaltungsverordnungen Höchstgrenzen für bestimmte Schadgase festgelegt. In Zusammenarbeit mit Lüftungstechnikfirmen wurden eine Schadgas geregelte Lüftung mit NH3 als zusätzlicher regelgröße neben Temperatur entwickelt und in einem Mastschweinestall erfolgreich erprobt.

The legislative has therefore set thresholds for certain noxious gases in the ordinances for keeping calves and pigs. In co-operation with manufacturers of ventilation technology, a noxious gas controlled ventilation - with NH3 as additional control variable - besides the temperature was developed and successfully tested in a pig fattening house. Simple NH3-sensors, which were tested in the lab at gas mixing station and in practical experiments in the houses, do not seem yet suited for a long term and reliably operating noxious gas controlled ventilation.
