Sistema de armazenamento por bateria: análise de condições operacionais

Atualmente, o panorama energético é caracterizado pelo aumento do consumo de eletricidade bem como pela preferência por tecnologias renováveis e limpas. As potencialidades das energias eólica, solar e hidroelétrica permitem, em Portugal, garantir um futuro energético largamente baseado nas energias renováveis. No entanto, a inconsistência dos níveis de produção bem como a incapacidade de assegurar as quantidades de energia consumidas constituem apenas alguns dos problemas inerentes a este tipo de energias renováveis intermitentes. Para resolver este problema são utilizados os Energy Storage Systems (ESS) que armazenam o excedente de produção de eletricidade para utilização posterior, não havendo necessidade de recorrer à produção fóssil. Este relatório de estágio analisa o dimensionamento de um sistema fotovoltaico com armazenamento em baterias de fosfato ferro-lítio (LFP) utilizando o software HOMERPro. Foram considerados dois casos de estudo, o primeiro correspondente ao cenário de referência sem sistema de armazenamento e o segundo incluindo um sistema de armazenamento em baterias, procedendo-se à comparação entre os dois no sentido de verificar qual a melhor solução em termos económicos, energéticos e ambientais. Concluiu-se que a instalação de baterias de grande capacidade não é atualmente rentável devido aos seus preços elevados. Para garantir a viabilidade económica do projeto, foi efetuada uma análise para uma segunda fase, considerando limitações na venda de capacidade para a rede, a implementação de uma tarifa programada com base na hora do dia e a modificação da capacidade do inversor. De acordo com a previsão da BloombergNEF o custo médio do pack de baterias será de 104 €/kWh no ano de 2025. Com base nestes fatores, o projeto torna-se viável, com estimativa de retorno do investimento em 7 anos.

Today's energy panorama is characterised by an increase in electricity consumption and a preference for renewable and clean technologies. The potential of wind, solar and hydroelectric energy in Portugal guarantees an energy future largely based on renewable energies. However, the inconsistency of production levels and the inability to guarantee the quantities of energy consumed are just some of the problems inherent in this type of intermittent renewable energy. To solve this problem, Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are used to store surplus electricity production for later use, without the need to resort to fossil fuel production. This internship report analyses the sizing of a photovoltaic system with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery storage using the HOMERPro software. Two case studies were considered, the first corresponding to the reference scenario without a storage system and the second including a battery storage system, and a comparison was made between the two in order to ascertain which was the best solution in economic, energy and environmental terms. It was concluded that the installation of largecapacity batteries is not currently profitable due to their high prices. To ensure the economic viability of the project, an analysis was carried out for a second phase, considering limitations on the sale of capacity to the grid, the implementation of a programmed tariff based on the time of day and modifying the capacity of the inverter. According to BloombergNEF's forecast, the average cost of a battery pack will be 104 €/kWh in 2025. Based on these factors, the project is viable, with an estimated return on investment of 7 years.
