Show more [+] Less [-]The purposes of this study, as the title implies is to discover whether the Makara Ward can satisfy any of the recreation needs and demands of the population of Wellington city and the surrounding region. If investigation shows there is a potential for recreation within this area the study aims to describe how this potential might be developed. This must be regarded as a preliminary study. Time limits a detailed examination of the total area. This, rather, is a broad scale approach with a detailed design for a specific site only. Research into recreation needs and characteristics within the Wellington region, was initiated during the course of this study. Information gained from the regional recreation use study would need to be applied to Makara design proposals, and the design modified accordingly. The study must aiso be related to other studies of the many other factors affecting planning. Only then can a well considered policy be developed.
