Avaliação Experimental da ocorrência da vazão e velocidade máximas em canais de seção circular | Experimental evaluation of discharge and maximal speed in circular section channels

No presente trabalho propôs-se verificar, experimentalmente, a validade da relação entre a altura de lâmina de água e diâmetro (y/D) para a definição da máxima vazão e máxima velocidade em canais de seção circular fechada, para regime de escoamento permanente uniforme e subcrítico; e determinar os coeficientes de rugosidade de Manning (n) e Bazin (n’) para tubos de PVC com diferentes declividades. O trabalho foi conduzido no Laboratório de Hidráulica do Departamento de Engenharia Agrícola da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, onde foram instalados canais de seção circular em PVC, com diâmetros comerciais de 100, 150, 200, 250 mm, 18 metros de comprimento e declividades de 0,05 %; 0,10 %; 0,15 % e 0,20 %. As declividades foram estabelecidas através de cavaletes, tendo-se o cuidado de garantira ocorrência do regime de escoamento permanente, uniforme e subcrítico. A vazão de alimentação dos canais, derivada de um reservatório de nível constante, foi controlada por meio de uma válvula gaveta e por by-pass, e determinada por um diafragma. Uma caixa estabilizadora foi usada e teve a função de uniformizar o escoamento de tal maneira que este ocorresse livre de perturbações ao longo do canal e uma caixa receptora também foi usada com a função de manter constante o nível d’água no final do canal e reconduzir, com o auxílio de uma bomba, a água para o reservatório de nível constante. Considerando os objetivos deste trabalho e os resultados alcançados, obtiveram-se as seguintes conclusões: a máxima vazão em canais de seção circular ocorreu a uma altura de lâmina de 0,93 a 0,95 do diâmetro interno da tubulação, não sofrendo influências das declividades, apenas das alturas de lâmina d’água; a máxima velocidade em canais de seção circular ocorreu a uma altura de lâmina de 0,78 a 0,82 do diâmetro interno da tubulação, não sofrendo influências das declividades, apenas das alturas de lâmina d’água; a vazão a seção plena representou 94 % daquela escoada para y/D = 0,95 e a velocidade a seção plena representou 90 % daquela da velocidade para y/D = 0,81. Os coeficientes de rugosidade de Manning válidos para o Sistema Internacional de Unidades (SI), para os diâmetros comerciais de 100, 150, 200 e 250 milímetros de tubulações de PVC são respectivamente 0,0080, 0,0092, 0,0095, e 0,0099 e os coeficientes de rugosidade de Bazin 0,05, 0,07, 0,08 e 0,09, para as mesmas condições, não ocorrendo diferença na rugosidade devido à mudança de declividade.

The relation between water depth and diameter (y/D) was experimentally validated in order to define the maximal discharge and speed in channels of a closed circular section for a permanent, uniform, and undercritical flow regime; and to determine the roughness coefficients of Manning (n) and Bazin (n’) for PVC tubes with different slopes. The study was carried out at the Laboratory of Hydraulics (Department of Agricultural Engineering) at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. 18 m long circular section channels of PVC (100, 150, 200, and 250 mm diameter) were installed with slopes of 0,05%; 0,10%; 0,15%, and 0,20%. These were established by scaffolds, which ensured a permanent, uniform, and fluvial flow regime. The discharge of the channel supply, derived from a constant level reserve, was controlled by a drawer valve and by-pass, and determined by a diaphragm. A stabilizing box was used in order to standardize the flow, so that no interference could hinder the flow along the channel. Moreover, a recipient box was used to maintain the water level at the channel’s end constant, and to pump the water back into the constant water level reserve. Regarding the objectives and the obtained results, the following conclusions were drawn: the maximum discharge in circular section channels occurred at water depths between 0,93 and 0,95 of the internal pipe diameter, not influenced by the slopes, but only by the water depth. From this point on, the discharge sank slightly, since the increment of the irrigated perimeter was greater than that of the irrigated area. This led to a reduced hydraulic radius, thus validating the equation proposed by Manning. The speed in the circular section channels was highest at water depths between 0,78 and 0,82 of the internal pipe diameter with no influence of the slopes, only of the water depths. The discharge to the full section was 94% of the flow at y/D = 0,95 and the full section speed was 90% of a speed of y/D = 0,81. The effective roughness coefficients of Manning, according to the Sistema Internacional de Unidades (SI), and for the commercial diameters of 100, 150, 200, and 250 mm of PVC pipe are, respectively, 0,0080, 0,0092, 0,0095, and 0,0099. The roughness coefficients of Bazin are 0,05, 0,07, 0,08, and 0,09, for the same conditions, with no alterations in roughness under changing slopes.
