Efecto del tamaño de particula en la alimentacion de cuyes (Cavia porcellus) en la etapa de crecimiento - engorde.

The research was carried out at the Animal Nutrition Research, Development and Innovation Center (CIDiNA/guinea pigs) of the National University of Loja, in the canton and province of Loja, over a period of 75 days. The objective was to evaluate the effect of particle size in the feeding of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), three treatments were applied evaluating fine, medium and coarse particle size, in three periods, post-weaning (15-30 days), growth (31- 60 days) and fattening (61-90 days). A completely randomized experimental design was applied, where the source of variation is the particle size. 120 improved type A1 female guinea pigs, 15 days old, with an average weight of 275g, were used, divided into three experimental groups of 40 animals each: The variables, live weight, average daily gain, average daily consumption and feed conversion were studied. to collect data on the digestive parameters, pH of the stomach and cecum with its contents was obtained by sampling 30 experimental units taken 21 days after treatment, to obtain mortality data it was recorded daily. Data were analyzed using SAS statistical package (2016) and means were compared using a protected t-test. A significant difference p=0.001 was found in the live weight variables in the three stages, evidencing that the animals on diets with coarse particles achieved greater performance; The feed conversion variable had significance p = 0.041 in the third period with the fine particle treatment. In the digestive parameters, the variables of relative weight of the total digestive tract, stomach, small intestine, as well as the length of the small intestines and pH of the stomach and cecal contents respectively did not present a statistical difference P=0.872. An average of 2.4 and 6.6 for the pH of stomach and cecal contents. The relative weight of the cecum presented significance p=0.032, reaching a weight greater than 10.2% with the coarse particle treatment. It is concluded that diets with large particle size positively influenced live weight in the evaluated stages, and blind weight in guinea pigs until the last period.

La investigación se desarrolló en el Centro de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación de Nutrición Animal (CIDiNA/cuyes) de la Universidad Nacional de Loja, en el cantón y provincia de Loja, durante un periodo de 75días. El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto del tamaño de partícula en la alimentación de cuyes (Cavia porcellus), se aplicaron tres tratamientos evaluando tamaño de partícula fina, media y gruesa, en tres periodos, post-destete (15-30 días), crecimiento (31- 60 días) y engorde (61-90 días). Se aplicó un diseño experimental completamente al azar, donde la fuente de variación es el tamaño de la partícula. Se utilizaron 120 cuyes hembras de tipo A1 mejorado de 15 días de edad con un promedio de peso 275g, divididos en tres grupos experimentales de 40 animales cada uno: Se estudio las variables, peso vivo, ganancia media diaria, consumo medio diario y conversión alimenticia, para tomar datos de los parámetros digestivos, pH de estómago y ciego con sus contenidos se obtuvo con el muestreo de 30 unidades experimentales tomados a los 21 días del tratamiento, para obtener datos de la mortalidad se registró diariamente. Los datos se analizaron mediante paquete estadístico SAS (2016) y las medias se compararon utilizando un t-test protegido. Se encontró diferencia significativa p=0,001 en las variables peso vivo en las tres etapas evidenciando a los animales de dietas con partículas gruesas que alcanzaron un mayor rendimiento; la variable de conversión alimenticia tubo significancia p = 0,041 en el tercer periodo con el tratamiento de partícula fina. En los parámetros digestivos, las variables de peso relativo tracto digestivo total, estomago, intestino delgado, así como la longitud de intestinos delgado y pH del contenido estomacal y cecal respectivamente no presentaron diferencia estadística P=0,872. Un promedio de 2,4 y 6,6 para el pH del contenido estomacal y cecal. El peso relativo de ciego presento significancia p=0,032 alcanzando un peso mayor de 10,2% con el tratamiento de partícula gruesa. Se concluye que dietas con tamaño de partícula grande influyeron positivamente sobre peso vivo en las etapas evaluadas, y peso de ciego en cuyes hasta el último periodo.
