English. The purpose of examinations performed on 1462 piglets was to establish the usefulness of Apralan- -premix at a dose of 100 ppm chemioprophylactic of colibacteriosis in weaned piglets, appraisal of a long-term application of apramycin on gut bacterial flora and determination of sensitivity of E. coli isolated from faeces to apramycin and other chemothe- rapeufics useid in Poland. It was found that number of losses in piglets in negative and positive' controls was many times higher than that in treated animals. Mean daily body weight gains were higher in piglets treated with apramycin. but the observed differences were not statistically significant. Percent of faeces samples from which E. coli was isolated in pure culture was the lowęgt in piglets treated with apramycin. 95% of the isolated strains of E.. coli was sensitive or moderate sensitive to apramycin, 75% of the isolates were resistant to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracyclines and sulphathiazole.
