Síndrome de Burnout y hábitos alimentarios en los trabajadores de la empresa Muebles El Bosque.

El síndrome de Burnout es la respuesta inadecuada a un estrés crónico consecuencia de un elevado nivel de tensión en el trabajo, frustración personal y actitudes inadecuadas de enfrentamiento en situaciones conflictivas; siendo catalogado por la OMS como riesgo laboral. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el síndrome del Burnout, los hábitos alimentarios y su posible relación en los trabajadores de la empresa Muebles El Bosque en una población de 75 trabajadores de los cuales el 61% pertenecían al sexo masculino con un rango etario de 30 a 39 años en el 45%. Los datos se recogieron mediante encuestas vía correo electrónico. El Burnout se evaluó mediante el Cuestionario de Burnout Maslach Inventory (MBI) y los hábitos alimentarios con un Cuestionario de Frecuencia de Consumo de alimentos. El estudio fue de enfoque descriptivo, cuantitativo, correlacional y de corte transversal. Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron un nivel moderado de presencia del síndrome (84%), siendo predominante en el sexo masculino con un 85%, sin embargo, en sus tres dimensiones: agotamiento emocional, despersonalización y realización personal presentaron un nivel leve. Con relación a la frecuencia de consumo se determinó la ingesta de cantidades insuficientes de lácteos, pescado, frutas, verduras, entre otros; el género masculino presentó mayor porcentaje en la alta ingesta de grasas saturadas y carbohidratos simples. No existió relación significativa entre los hábitos alimentarios y el nivel de presencia del síndrome, sin embargo, el grupo con mayor riesgo de presentar el síndrome fue el sexo masculino.

Burnout syndrome is the inadequate response to chronic stress resulting from a high level of tension at job, personal frustration and inadequate attitudes of confrontation in conflictive situation; it is classified by the WHO as an occupational hazard. The objective of this research was to evaluate the Burnout Syndrome, eating habits and their possible relationship in Muebles El Bosque´s employees in a population of 75 workers of which 61% belonged to the male sex with an age range of 30 to 39 years in 45%. The data were collected by email surveys. Burnout was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory and eating habits with a Food Frequency Questionnaire. The study was descriptive approach, quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional. The results obtained showed a moderate level of the syndrome (84%), being predominant in the male sex with 85%, however, in its three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment present a slight level. In relation to the food frequency, insufficient amounts of dairy product, fish, fruits, vegetables among others, were determined. There was a correlation between eating habits and the moderate presence of the syndrome, being the male gender with a higher percentage of saturated fat and simple carbohydrate intake. There was no significant relationship between eating habits and the level of presence of the syndrome, however, the group with the highest risk to present the syndrome was the male sex.
