English. The Banderas Bay (Bahía de Banderas) has a great tourist boom since it lodges the vacational beach zones of Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta, unfortunately, these zones present a polarized and irregular development, generating conflicts related to the land use which, along with the incorporation of new land for agriculture and pasturing, promote the disappearance of vegetal species. These study intents to contribute to the knowledge of the bay's vegetal richness due to its importance by the multiple environmental services that they provide. From August 1995 to October 1998, a series of botanical surveys were carried on all over the region, where a total of 9 subspecies, 15 varieties, 453 species and 326 genus within 103 families were determined. The results showed an increase of 74 % in relation to the recordings indicated in the sources. The species were divided into 10 types of vegetation. The bay covered the 75% of the types of vegetation from Nayarit and the 62.5% of the vegetation from Jalisco.
