Índices morfométricos e suas relações com as variáveis de produção da floresta de acácia negra

Resumo: O conhecimento da morfometria e das relações interdimensionais de espécies arbóreas auxiliam na determinação de intervenções silviculturais para a floresta ou indivíduo, permitem inferir sobre a estabilidade, vitalidade e produtividade das árvores. Tendo essa importância, no presente trabalho são investigadas duas questões: (1) Como obter os índices morfométricos? (2) Qual a relação dos índices morfométricos com a produção de área basal (G), biomassa (B) e volume (V)? Essas questões foram respondidas por meio de experimentos conduzidos em florestas de acácia negra, para a qual não se tem informações a respeito. Sendo assim, o estudo tem como objetivo obter os índices morfométricos para a espécie acácia negra e avaliar a sua relação com a produção da floresta. Os dados utilizados foram provenientes de duas bases de dados (1. Floresta ao longo de um ciclo de cultivo e 2. Floresta em idade de colheita), coletados na região sul do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. A modelagem dos índices morfométricos foi efetuada por meio de três abordagens: 1) Estimativa Pontual, 2) Estimador por Razão e 3) Modelagem Correlacional. Os resultados dos índices morfométricos obtidos pela Estimativa Pontual são limitantes e esta abordagem, para a presente estrutura experimental, não é recomendada. Os Estimadores por Razão fornecem aos índices morfométricos as suas precisões, sendo preferível. Para a modelagem correlacional o índice varia de 0 a 1, permitindo a comparação dos índices, sendo uma abordagem também recomendada. É observada dependência dos valores dos índices morfométricos com a idade e local de cultivo. Para a floresta ao longo de um ciclo de cultivo o índice Proporção de Copa, de forma geral, apresenta maior correlação com as variáveis de produção, comparando-se aos demais índices. O Grau de Esbeltez é o índice que melhor se correlaciona com a área basal, biomassa e volume na floresta madura. Para a floresta em idade de colheita o índice Proporção de Copa apresenta forte correlação com as variáveis de produção, seguido do Índice de Saliência. Os índices Proporção de Copa e Grau de Esbeltez apresentam relação inversamente proporcional às variáveis de produção da floresta de acácia negra.

Abstract: The knowledge of the morphometry and interdimensional relationships of tree species assist in determining silvicultural interventions for the forest or individual tree, allowing inferences to be made about the stability, vitality, and productivity of trees. Having this importance, in the present work two questions are investigated: (1) How to obtain the morphometric indices? (2) What is the relationship between morphometric indices and the production of basal area (G), biomass (B) and volume (V)? These questions were answered by experiments conducted in black wattle forests, for which no information is available. Thus, the study aims to obtain the morphometric indices for the black wattle species and evaluate its relationship with forest production. The data used came from two databases (1. Forest throughout a cultivation cycle and 2. Forest at harvest age), collected in the southern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Modeling of the morphometric indices was carried out using three approaches: 1) Point Estimation, 2) Ratio Estimator and 3) Correlational Modeling. The results of morphometric indices obtained by Point Estimation are limiting and this approach, for the present experimental setup, is not recommended. Ratio Estimators provide the morphometric indices with their accuracies and is preferable. For correlational modeling the ratio ranges from 0 to 1, allowing the indices to be compared, and this approach is also recommended. Dependence of the morphometric index values with age and location is observed. For the forest over crop cycle, the Crown Ratio (CR), in general, shows greater correlation with the production variables, compared to the other indices. The Degree of Slenderness (DS) is the index that best correlates with basal area, biomass, and volume in the mature forest. For the forest at harvesting age, the CR shows a strong correlation with the production variables, followed by the Salience Index (SI). The indexes CR and DS present inversely proportional relation to the production variables of the black acacia forest.
