The anthers of Lobularia maritima Desv. (Brassicaceae) have developed pollen divisions and callusing, followed by plantlet regeneration, under in vitro conditions. Both, pollen divisions and callusing have been induced on benzylamino (BM) plus benzylaminopurine (BAP) 6 x 10('-6)M plus 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) (1 ppm), and BM plus kinetin 6 x 10('-6)M plus 2,4-D (2 ppm) media. However, calli and their further regeneration into plantlets could be sustained only on BM plus BAP 6 x 10('-6)M. Nutrient media containing 2,4-D inhibited shoot regeneration. Callus alone developed on several other media also.
