Irrigation of oil palms in Malaysia
1982
Corley, R.H.V. | Hong, T.K.
Results of an irrigation trial in Johore are discussed. Increases in bunch number, attributable to a lower abortion rate, and in oil content of the bunch as a result of higher oil to mesocarp, were observed. An effect on sex ratio was also seen. The resulting increase in oil yield was not great enough to justify the cost of irrigation, but it is suggested that a profitable response might be obtained in parts of Malaysia with a more regular dry season than Johore
