Moderate potassium rates increased the yields of Italian ryegrass but had no effect on the yields of ornithopus. The yields of Italian ryegrass were increased by Ca and Mg fertilization but only on soils which were very acid and poor in Mg. The content of K in Italian ryegrass and ornithopus increased with increasing K rates and was little affected by Ca and Mg fertilization
