Effect of application time of ethephon with calcium acetate on maturation and quality of 'Campbell Early' grapes

This study was to examine the effects of ethephon with calcium acetate on the maturation and qualities of 'Campbell Early' grapes (Vitis labruscana). The maturation of grapes was delayed 4 to 7 days when ethephon with calcium acetate was applied before and at veraison, but it was hastened 4 to 5 days when applied after veraison. Calcium acetate could not completely offset defoliation caused by ethephon treatment in weak vine and especially in vineyards under unfavourable environment for air drainage
