Early maturing and cold tolerant rice variety "Dobongbyeo" developed from the cross between Tjina and Norin 25 at Crop Experiment Station, Office of Rural Development in 1971. It has been broadly grown around Unbong area since 1972. It has some degree of tolerance to leaf blast and stripe virus and cold injury, but is susceptible to the other diseases and insects. Dobongbyeo was recommendable to the southern alpine area and middle and northern subalpine area due to early maturing habit
